WHO ARE WE?

For Independent Producers

“This acquisition is the logical step forward in the development of our businesses, slaughtering completes our pork chain”, says Janin Boucher, co-owner of Groupe Cérès inc. “As independent swine producers, we understand the reality of Quebec’s producer entrepreneurs. They will be able to choose to do business with a company run by people who live in the same realities. This will undeniably promote proximity with our producers and personalize our relationship”.

The Strength of the Alliance

“For producers like ourselves, keeping our independence is essential,” says Mario Côté, owner of Mario Côté Inc. “It was only natural that when the opportunity to have our own slaughterhouse presented itself, we would explore this opportunity. By joining forces with the three of us, we are building on a solid basis; we all have the necessary entrepreneurial skills for a project of this magnitude. The alliance makes us stronger and allows us to get the best out of each other.”

The Next Generation

“We must ensure the future of our businesses,” says Jocelyn Bertrand, owner of Jocelyn Bertrand Inc., “our successors, like all independent producers in Quebec, must be able to rely on options that are adapted and designed to move forward and maintain the profitability of the businesses in the context of swine production in Quebec.”

Three Quebec-based companies worked together and created CBCo Alliance Inc.

Groupe Cérès Inc., Jocelyn Bertrand Inc. and Mario Côté Inc., three well-known companies in the Quebec swine industry have joined forces to acquire the former Slaughterhouse Les Cèdres, located in the municipality of the same name, 50 km away from downtown Montreal.
